Radon system design for new apartment buildings
Apartment developers move on schedule, and a radon-control design that holds up plan review the first time keeps a project on track. CC-1000-2018 treats a new apartment building as an engineered radon problem, not a checklist item copied from a single-family detail.
The standard asks for a continuous sub-slab gas-permeable layer, a sealed soil-gas-retarder membrane, and a vent system that can move soil gas from under every ground-contact slab to a safe termination above the roofline. On larger footprints that means multiple collection points and a riser network, not one stack.
Our package delivers the routing, the membrane and sealing specifications, and the code references your reviewer expects, drafted from your plans and reviewed by a certified radon professional. We sell the design as a deliverable, separate from any installation contract.
What the design package covers
- Sub-slab depressurization layout across all ground-contact slabs
- Soil-gas-retarder membrane and penetration sealing details
- Vent riser network sized to the building, terminated above the roof
- Rough-in provisions so fans can be added post-occupancy if testing triggers
- Reference summary keyed to ANSI/AARST CC-1000-2018
