What your permit set must show
- Saskatchewan adopted the National Building Code of Canada 2020 edition by regulation under the Construction Codes Act, effective January 1, 2024, carrying forward the radon rough-in provision at NBC Subsection 9.13.4.
- Requires a rough-in stub pipe (as with BC, Alberta, and Ontario, sized for sub-slab or sub-membrane depressurization) in new Part 9 residential buildings, applied province-wide with no exemption found.
- Requirement applies to all new Part 9 (small residential) buildings under the current NBC 2020 edition.
Common questions
Does every new Saskatchewan home need a radon rough-in?
Yes. NBC 2020's Subsection 9.13.4, adopted province-wide effective January 1, 2024, applies to all new Part 9 residential buildings with no exemption found.
Is this the same requirement as BC and Alberta?
